Avishay Kert is the Head of Nuclear Energy Safety and Licensing in the Nuclear Energy Division within the Office of the Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. In his role, he coordinates and supports waste-to-energy projects selected under the Incubation, Pioneer, and Demonstration tracks. Previously, he served as Senior Regulator for offshore and onshore production of natural gas and oil, including oversight of gas rig operations in Israel.
Avishay brings 15 years of end-to-end expertise in the gas sector, spanning downstream activities (including in his former role at the Standards Institution) through upstream operations, and in recent years has specialized in the field of nuclear energy. He holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Ben-Gurion University, an M.Sc. in Natural Gas and Petroleum Engineering from the Technion, and is currently pursuing an M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering at Ben-Gurion University.
