Uriel Babczyk

Uriel Babczyk currently serves as the Senior Director of Engineering and Implementation in the Sustainable Energy Division at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. He leads national initiatives to promote the transition to sustainable energy in Israel, overseeing key programs like the National Energy Efficiency Plan, mandatory regulation for renewables in new construction, the Energy Imports Reform, and the institutionalization of sustainable energy in local authorities.

Uriel is an expert with two decades of experience in developing and implementing public policy in the fields of climate, energy, and urban planning. Prior to joining the Ministry, Uriel established and managed the Department for Sustainable Planning and Energy within the Engineering Administration of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality. Furthermore, he founded and chaired the Green Building Forum (under the Forum 15 association), working to institutionalize the topic of green building across local authorities in Israel.

Uriel holds a B.A. in Architecture from Bezalel, Jerusalem, and an M.Sc. in Urban Planning and Development, as a Chevening Scholar, from UCL London.
