Yossi Dayan was appointed Director General of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in February 2024. In his role, he leads the formulation of Israel’s national energy policy, with a focus on strengthening Israel’s energy security and accelerating the transition to renewable energy.
Dayan heads large-scale strategic initiatives that are shaping the future of Israel’s energy sector and strengthening the country’s resilience. Among other responsibilities, he leads the “Dayan Committee” for determining Israel’s natural gas export policy and promotes national programs for energy resilience, including an emergency initiative to fortify energy infrastructure and expand emergency reserves with an investment of approximately NIS 1 billion.
In addition, Dayan advances clean energy and the achievement of government targets in this field, including a program to install 100,000 solar systems by 2030, alongside the promotion of electricity storage projects and demand management. As part of his responsibilities, Dayan also promotes the protection of critical infrastructure against cyber threats and advances cooperation with local authorities to strengthen energy resilience at the local level.
Director General Dayan is also responsible for the rehabilitation of the energy system in the Tekuma Region and for implementing models of energy independence in local authorities across the country.
Prior to his appointment, Dayan served as Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and previously held senior management positions in both the public and private sectors.
