Dear all,

The last conference took place about four months after October 7, and who could have imagined that at this time, the war would still be ongoing. We still have hostages in Gaza, and we are facing a significant internal debate.  Other conflicts around the world are often driven by the desire to control energy resources, further emphasizing the need to advance decentralized and diversified energy production to ensure energy independence and resilience in times of crisis.

The concepts of independence and resilience align perfectly with our longstanding focus on renewable energy production and storage, energy-saving technologies, and ensuring energy continuity through innovation and its integration into the Israeli and global energy markets.

Over the past two years, the Eilat and Arava region has continued to lead and innovate on a global scale:

• A joint corporation was established between all the regional kibbutzim and Doral Group to promote 4,500 dunams of agrivoltaics’ projects in extreme desert conditions.
• A groundbreaking approach is being developed to create an alternative to the national grid, in addition to energy storage, by converting or attracting major energy consumers to use renewable energy through bilateral agreements with electricity suppliers.
• The installation of 400 MW of high-voltage energy storage is underway to optimize system management, following successful bids in the Electricity Authority’s tenders.
• Feasibility studies are being conducted for green hydrogen production to serve local customers.
• Numerous initiatives are in progress to achieve carbon neutrality for the city of Eilat by 2030.

The 11th Eilat-Eilot Conference will, as always, focus on the intersection of energy production innovation, consumption, policy, and implementation, aiming to grow the clean energy market while contributing to greenhouse gas reduction.
